Babysitter Candidate Requirements
We require all babysitter candidates to exceed industry standards. Our families expect to receive the best childcare on the central coast, and we screen for just that! In addition to the following, all candidates must be truly passionate about childcare and working with children and their families. Minimum requirements include:
Additionally, the following skills and experience are highly valued by our families:
- Childcare experience (depends on position/placement)
- United States Work Authorization (driver's license and social security card or US passport)
- The ability to speak fluent English
- Having a reliable and safe vehicle
- Being at least 18 years of age
- Excellent references (at least 3 of which must be previous childcare employers)
- A livescan (fingerprint) background check and Trustline registration (or ability to become Trustline registered)
- CPR, First Aid certification (or ability to become certified upon placement/offer of employment)
- A clean DMV record (and proof of record upon offer of employment)
- The ability to lift 60 pounds
- The ability to undergo the Savvy Sitters training program
Additionally, the following skills and experience are highly valued by our families:
- Early Childhood Education units
- Child Development, Child Psychology or Liberal Studies (K-8) major or graduate
- Teaching and/or daycare experience
- Children's program volunteer, assistant and/or coordinator experience
- Extensive infant experience
- Twin experience
- Allergen experience
- Family travel experience
- Lifeguard/swim instructor/professional rescuer experience
- Familiarity and/or fluency in multiple languages
